Unemployment at Minimum Levels
Brazil registered a significant reduction in the unemployment rate, which reached 5,3% in the moving quarter ended in August. This level represents the lowest mark for the period since 2012, according to IBGE data.
The drop came from 5,6% in the previous quarter, reflecting a more heated labor market.
Advance in Occupation and New Jobs
The occupied population reached a record 103,5 million people. Between June and August, 774 thousand more Brazilians entered the labor market, a growth of 0,8% in the quarter.
Year-over-year, the number of occupied rose 1%, incorporating 1,1 million new workers.
Drop in the Number of Unemployed
About 5,8 million people were looking for work in the analyzed period. This means a reduction of 4,6% compared to 6,1 million in the previous quarter.
A year earlier, the index was also at 5,6%, with the same number of unemployed.
Income and Perspectives
Real average income remained stable in the quarter, but showed an increase of 3,7% year-over-year.
