Final Meeting in SP: Tarcísio and Haddad Exchange Barbs Without Clear Winner

The Final Clash in São Paulo

In the last meeting before the vote, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos) and Fernando Haddad (PT) faced off in a balanced debate with no clear standout. The governor, who leads the polls by a wide margin, left satisfied with the format that avoided last-minute surprises.

Haddad's Arguments

The former minister highlighted verifiable data and criticized São Paulo's drop to 10th place in education. He also questioned transparency at the Finance Secretariat and defended ending privatizations, pointing to increased violence and the alleged approach of the PCC to institutions. Haddad also brought the debate to the national level by mentioning Flávio Bolsonaro and a request for funds for the film Dark Horse, asking for votes for Marina Silva, Simone Tebet, Lula and himself.

Tarcísio's Highlights

Tarcísio highlighted infrastructure works, such as sections of the Rodoanel and Line 6 of the Metro, in addition to the creation of the Tabela SUS Paulista. He defended actions against domestic violence, such as electronic ankle monitors and police reinforcement, and reinforced the need for alignment with the federal government, declaring support for Flávio Bolsonaro and candidates Derrite and André do Prado for the Senate.

Focus on the Tietê River and Sanitation

Tarcísio demanded explanations about the Integra Tietê program, to which Haddad replied that he did not know the project and criticized the river's pollution. The PT member also attacked the privatization of Sabesp, claiming that rates would inevitably rise and that the company was sold below market value, citing four worker deaths after the process. Tarcísio lamented the deaths but argued that lack of access to water was unacceptable.

Ballot Context

With the first round scheduled for Sunday, the two candidates sought to consolidate their bases without major risks, keeping the focus on issues such as infrastructure, security and public management.
