Increasing Pressure on Brazilian Football
Directors of major clubs have intensified efforts to challenge the federal ban on betting houses, the main sponsors of Brazilian football. In private talks, the idea of interrupting the Brazilian Championship as a form of pressure has even emerged.
Boycott of Official Meeting
The mobilization led to the cancellation of a scheduled meeting with government representatives. Most presidents announced they would not attend, including clubs close to the Planalto, such as Corinthians, which is negotiating credit with Caixa.
Entry into the STF
Sinafut, the entity representing clubs and federations, filed a request to join the case questioning the provisional measure at the Supreme Federal Court. The initiative strengthens the legal strategy against the government decision.
Impact on Budgets
Many clubs still expect to receive amounts from contracts valid until 2026 and are planning the following year based on these resources. Without a transition period, they warn of serious financial difficulties starting in 2027.
- Demand for deadline to end sponsorships
