Drop in the Initial Trading Session

The Ibovespa Futuro opened in negative territory this Monday (28), pressured by the advance in oil prices and the proximity of the presidential elections. Around 9:04 a.m. (Brasília time), the contract fell 0.78%, trading at 183,270 points.

Polls Point to Lula's Advantage

A BTG/Nexus poll released in the morning indicates that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) widened his lead over Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) in the first round. In the second-round scenario, the advantage reaches two percentage points, still within the margin of error. Another Quaest survey is expected to be released during the day.

Updated Economic Projections

The Central Bank's Focus Bulletin showed an upward revision in expected inflation for 2026, now at 4.99%. The medians for the year remain at dollar at R$ 5.20, GDP expansion of 1.86% and Selic at 13.50%.

Middle East Tensions Affect Commodities

Abroad, Donald Trump dismissed an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, raising oil prices by about 4%. Negotiations are expected to continue this week, but with no signs of flexibility from Tehran.

American and Asian Markets Fall

Wall Street futures trade in the red: Dow Jones Futuro down 0.56%, S&P Futuro down 0.45% and Nasdaq Futuro down 0.81%. In Asia-Pacific, South Korea's Kospi led the losses with a 2.70% decline.

Dollar and Iron Ore

The October dollar futures rose 0.32% on B3, quoted at R$ 5.212. Iron ore in China reached a five-week low, impacted by high inventories and reduced steel production.
