Instinct AI Agent: what an autonomous assistant really does in everyday life

Practical test shows how Instinct negotiates purchases, cancels subscriptions and organizes appointments via WhatsApp, but still raises privacy concerns.

Instinct AI Agent: what an autonomous assistant really does in everyday life

What is Instinct

This is an artificial intelligence agent developed in Silicon Valley that goes beyond simple responses: it performs real actions. The user interacts via text message and the system accesses emails, calendar and browser to carry out everyday tasks. Companies like Meta and OpenAI have also launched similar solutions.

Automatic purchases and negotiations

During five days of use, the agent purchased children's sneakers for just 5 Swiss francs in an online auction without the owner having participated. It also acquired items such as regenerating salt and cases, checking previous purchase history and confirming before finalizing orders.

Customer service and cancellations

When complaining about an unwanted audiobook, the assistant attempted a digital return and, failing that, conducted a chat with support. In another front, it analyzed cloud subscriptions and migrated to a cheaper plan, in addition to canceling 70 unwanted newsletters.

Schedule organization and reminders

The system notifies about different school times, tracks swimming club activities and gathers pending bills weekly with QR codes. Just inform something once for it to register and request updates.

Limits and concerns

The agent still does not make phone calls and does not access corporate accounts, local files or credit card data. Experts highlight that productivity gains depend on granting more autonomy, however many users hesitate to allow the AI to read all messages and act on their behalf.

Final decision

Despite the practicality, the idea of maintaining a system that scans emails permanently and operates on behalf of the user generates discomfort. Some prefer to disable the feature after the test period.
