Interrogation in the plenary
During Tuesday's session, minister Alexandre de Moraes directed a direct question to the president of the Federal Supreme Court, Edson Fachin, about the direction of a possible vote.
“Your Excellency, what are you going to vote, president?”, Moraes questioned, while defending that the case involving exchanges of messages with the banker be judged together with the inquiry involving minister Kassio Nunes Marques.
Moraes' Defense
The magistrate clarified that there is no request for investigation in his name in the processes being processed in the plenary. According to him, isolated analysis could generate mistaken interpretations about the object of the investigation.
- Central point: Moraes asks that the two inquiries be considered in a unified manner.
- Argument: Separation of cases could harm the understanding of the facts.
Context of the inquiries
The processes analyzed by the STF involve messages exchanged between authorities and a banker. Fachin presides over the session and leads the definition on how the court will vote on the investigation requests.
Moraes reinforced that his position is merely procedural and does not aim to obstruct any legitimate investigation.
