Official response after questions about the integrity of the seizures
The Public Security Department of the State of São Paulo (SSP) came forward to categorically deny any irregularity in the way the materials collected during a police operation were sealed. The statement comes after questions arose about possible failures in the sealing of the seized equipment.
According to the department, there was no violation of the seals on the electronic devices gathered during the raids. The agency detailed that the 27 mentioned devices were sealed by the Civil Police themselves at the addresses where the seizures took place, with the accompaniment of witnesses — a procedure designed to ensure the integrity of the evidence.
Understanding the case
The police action carried out search and seizure warrants at properties linked to businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama, identified as the producer of the feature film Dark Horse. During the execution of the judicial orders, various equipment was collected by the teams.
Images released later showed devices whose seals appeared to be poorly closed, which fueled the controversy over the chain of custody of the seized material.
What the Department says
In a statement, the SSP maintained that all procedures were followed correctly:
- The devices were sealed at the site of the seizure, and not at another time;
- The procedure had the presence of witnesses, as required by the rule;
- The department rejects the version that there was violation of the seals.
The businesswoman's defense and the other involved parties have not yet commented in detail on the state government's response. The case remains under investigation, and the discussion about the validity of the collected evidence may have repercussions in the next stages of the process.
