TSE Decision on Virtual Agenda
TSE President Kassio Nunes Marques called a virtual plenary session for this Wednesday (30) to assess Minister André Mendonça's order that required the removal of posts linking candidate Flávio Bolsonaro to an alleged effort to strip Our Lady of Aparecida of her title as patron saint of Brazil.
STF Intervention
The day before, Supreme Federal Court Justice Luiz Fux suspended Justice Flávio Dino's measure that had annulled Mendonça's determination. As a result, the posts, including one by comedian Antonio Tabet, remain offline until the STF plenary examines the issue.
Dino justified his position by noting that the messages did not directly mention Flávio Bolsonaro and that freedom of expression needed to be preserved.
Candidates' Statements
- Flávio Bolsonaro stated on the SantoFlow Podcast that the post represents a "kind of stab" against him, comparing it to the attack suffered by his father in 2018.
- Lula, in turn, defended respect for all religions and criticized the Igreja Batista da Lagoinha in Belo Horizonte for alleged financial transfers under investigation by Coaf.
Impacts on the Institutional Crisis
Tensions between STF justices have directly affected the TSE less than a month before the first round. Allies of André Mendonça approached Edson Fachin to speed up the review, while the group close to Alexandre de Moraes warned of the risk of further exposing the Judiciary on the eve of the election.
The episode reveals how internal divergences in the Supreme Court are influencing electoral decisions in real time.
